Traffic management operative (Watford - Grays)

We are RTS and a fantastic opportunity has arisen at our expanding Rickmansworth/Grays Depot(s).  We are looking to recruit a further a number of qualified (ideally) but will consider unqualified with cross transferable skills Traffic Management Operatives.  Are you looking to take the next step up the career ladder?

Road Traffic Solutions are a cutting-edge traffic management company with their Head Office based in Scunthorpe and a network of depots across the UK.  We deliver high quality traffic management solutions nationwide and have  a depot in Essex in addition we have depots in Scunthorpe, Birmingham, Mildenhall and Scotland.

Due to the increasing expansion of our business and specifically due to the increased requirements in the Watford/Grays area, we are seeking fully qualified Operatives.  We are very proud that we have achieved and continued to maintain our Investors in People Award to a gold standard.

Working within traffic management provides some individual challenges in relation to work pattern which is very often customer driven, however we also believe that in acknowledging what may at times be long hours with additional travel we have invested in highly competitive rates of pay which remain under review. Operatives who undertake additional sector qualifications will be rewarded via enhanced hourly rates of pay. We are passionate about delivering an exceptional service to our customers, investing in our staff and ensuring that in everything we do we maintain a focus on transparency, fairness, honesty and integrity.

In addition we have invested considerably in our transport fleet and the equipment we provide to front line personnel to ensure our staff can meet sector legislation and customer requirements in a professional manner.

As a responsible employer we do undertake at point of induction a drug test and we continue through the period of employment further random testing.

Remuneration

£107.50-£145.00 per shift, depending on qualification’s (London Rate)

Traffic Management Personnel Required (Tier 2)

We are Road Traffic Solutions, we are based in Scunthorpe but we also have depots in Watford, Grays, Birmingham, Mildenhall and Scotland.

Given the very specific and restricted requirements of this post, potential applicants should consider carefully whether this role would be suitable for you. Whilst the role is not physically challenging it will require personnel who are able to work extended hours in one location and remain alert and focused. It could be of particular interest to someone who has taken early retirement or is seeking a career change.

We are very interested in recruiting to our expanding team  a number of personnel whose sole roles will be;

  • Manual control of traffic lights which usually will be for periods of 12 hours
  • Pedestrian Management – which will involve the installation of safety barrier and then marshalling of pedestrians to ensure the security of members of the public

This role is a new development for Road Traffic Solutions and one which will enable our Tier 1 operatives to focus on the installation and management of our more complex works.

We are specifically seeking personnel in the:  Grays / Watford and Birmingham areas.

Working within traffic management provides some individual challenges in relation to work pattern which is very often customer driven, however we also believe that in acknowledging what may at times be long hours in inclement weather  the remuneration for this post is highly competitive

Successful applicants will work a rota of 6 days on 3 days off but the ability to work flexibly will be an expectation of this post

Remuneration for this post will be (national) £100 per 12 hour shift (within the M25 corridor) £107.50 per 12 hour shift. Successful applicants will undertake the TMO entry level qualification (Unit 2 Streetworks) Dependent on progress there may be opportunities for successful candidates to progress to the Tier 1 level which will provide additional training opportunities and enhancements to shift rate. On successful completion of your Unit 2 Streetworks your shift rate would increase to £112.50 (within the M25 corridor) £105 (Birmingham)

Traffic Management Operative –

Shift pattern is 6 on 3 off on a rolling rota (12 hour shifts) with an expectation if business needs require to work additional hours.

Due to a significant increase in work arising from newly secured and projected longstanding contracts we are actively sourcing additions to our expanding team in these specific geographical areas.

Remuneration

Commencing shift rate as a Qualified Operative (UK wide £107.50) Unqualified (UK wide £100) rising to (£107.50) on completion of the Unit 2 qualification which in general takes up to 6 weeks. For Qualified Operatives who hold additional sector qualification’s there are enhancements to these rates.

Holiday Allowance 28 days per annum

Opportunities exist for overtime on normal works and also via supporting our extensive programme of premium Events.

Note

Driving licence with no more than 3 points is essential
