Traffic management operative (Watford)

We are RTS and a fantastic opportunity has arisen at our expanding Rickmansworth Depot.  We are looking to recruit a further 8 Traffic Management Operatives.  Are you looking to take the next step up the career ladder?

Working within traffic management provides some individual challenges in relation to work pattern which is very often customer driven, however we also believe that in acknowledging what may at times be long hours with additional travel we have invested in highly competitive rates of pay which remain under review. Operatives who undertake additional sector qualifications will be rewarded via enhanced hourly rates of pay. In addition we have invested considerably in our transport fleet and the equipment we provide to front line personnel to ensure our staff can meet sector legislation and customer requirements in a professional manner.

Successful applicants will work a 6 on 3 off shift rota (12 hour shifts)


£107.50-£145.00 per shift, depending on qualification’s (London Rate)

Business Development Executive (Sales).

Job Description – Road Traffic Solutions – Business Development.

Title: Business Development Executive (Sales).

Reports to: Head of Business Development; Head office, Scunthorpe  Lincolnshire.

Based at: Cumbernauld  Scotland.

Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience, primarily commission based.

Job purpose:

Road Traffic Solutions are an established name within the traffic management industry. We have an exciting opportunity within the company to appoint a sales executive to be based at our Scottish depot in Cumbernauld. Due to business requirements and demands we are seeking someone to plan and carry out direct marketing and sales activities, so as to maintain and develop sales of Road Traffic Solutions traffic management services to clients across the Scottish region.


A Company vehicle would be provided along with mobile phone and laptop.

Bonus will be paid based on company performance.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Maintain and develop a computerised customer and prospect database.
  2. Plan and carry out direct sales activities.
  3. Develop ideas and create offers to present to external companies and Road Traffic Solutions colleagues.
  4. Respond and follow up sales enquiries by email, telephone, and personal visits.
  5. Maintain and develop existing and new customers.
  6. Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant information to the Head of Business Development at agreed intervals.
  7. Carry out market research and understand the market you are targeting.
  8. Arrange and attend meetings with existing and potential clients as and when necessary to aid business development; to present Road Traffic Solutions services in these meetings.
  9. Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  10. To develop a vast knowledge of Road Traffic Solutions and its available infrastructure.
  11. To works towards set sales targets.
  12. Launch and implementation of innovative methods of obtaining new work and sustaining existing works and clients.

Person profile – Business Development Executive (Sales).

Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with clients and people of seniority. Reliable, tolerant, determined and well presented. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel as and when required. Personal Situation:  Able to spend, when necessary, nights away from home (accommodation will be provided). Able to commute reliably to office base –. Must have clean or near clean driving license.  To be able to work extended hours on occasions when required.

Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and training will be provided on how to navigate and use our bespoke computing system REPS.

Business Skills and Background: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Ideal background would be in business development services; experience in the traffic management sector would be welcomed. Experience of tenders would also be useful.
