Meet The Team – Wayne Shipley

People are a large part of what we do here at Road Traffic Solutions. Through 2020 we wanted to take the time to introduce some of them to you in a short Meet The Team series.
Introducing: Wayne Shipley
Nickname: Waz
Position within Road Traffic Solutions: Planning Supervisor
Length of time with Road Traffic Solutions: 10 years
What do you do on a day-to-day basis within your job?
I oversee the production and scheduling of TM Plans and the Technical Drawers within the Planning Team. I work together with the Drawers and Planners to help give TM Solutions and produce High Quality TM Plans for both local works and large scale projects.
What do you like about working in Traffic/Event Management?
Traffic Management is a very interesting area, it is a lot more in depth then just slinging a few cones and some traffic lights on a road, like I originally thought 10 years ago. I like the challenges it brings up and the interesting characters it has introduced me to over the years.
What do you like about working at RTS?
I have found a career and a role that I enjoy with people that I like working with. The company has always supported myself and my progression from starting as an apprentice 10 years ago to where I am now and I feel like I am a valued member of the team.
What is your favourite quote?
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new” – Albert Einstein.
What is your favourite song, film or book and why?
Mad Max Series – Since I was a kid I always enjoyed these movies, I’m a sucker for a post-apocalyptic setting and always enjoyed the good mix of storytelling and action.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
Spending time with my Daughter, Watching TV or Films, Playing Video games.
Give a fact about yourself nobody else knows:
I never learnt how to swim.
