Meet The Team – Jack Burns

People are a large part of what we do here at Road Traffic Solutions. Through 2020 we wanted to take the time to introduce some of them to you in a short Meet The Team series.

Introducing: Jack Burns

Nickname: Unfortunately my names too short so people tend to call me Jack

Position within Road Traffic Solutions: Technical Drawer

Length of time with Road Traffic Solutions: 1 year and 6 months

What do you do on a day-to-day basis within your job?

I speak to clients and find out what works they are doing, once I have found this out I draw a traffic management plan to make the works as safe as possible to carry out.

What do you like about working at Road Traffic Solutions?

There is never a dull moment when in the drawings department. I come from a background of customer experience so I have always found it enjoyable to speak to clients and help them with any issues they may have. Another thing I really enjoy in my job is the creative aspect of it, watching a plan go from nothing but a survey of a joint-hole, to a very detailed traffic management plan is always a pleasure.

What are the values that drive you?

Honesty has always been a very big part of my working career, making sure clients know what’s going on from start to finish to give them a stress-free time working with me.

How has your time at RTS been impacted by Coronavirus and the lockdown?

My role hasn’t been greatly impacted due to the business’ integration of Microsoft teams within the workforce. I am still able to get in touch with my colleagues and clients so not much has changed for me.

What is your favourite quote?

“WHAT DO YOU MEEEAAAAN??” – According to my co-workers I say this a lot… I don’t get what they mean though.

What is your favourite song, film or book and why?

“English Kids in America” by Lower Than Atlantis is most likely one of my favourite songs, although I do have a very wide spread taste in music.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

I like to play games, watch movies and create music from time to time.

Give a fact about yourself nobody else knows:

Only a few of my co-workers know this, but on my lunch break I ate a Double XL Bacon Cheeseburger from Burger King, then continued to eat a 9-pattied beef burger straight after without anything to drink or any sauce.
