Road Traffic Solutions set ourselves up as innovators from as early as 2013. We were the first in Traffic Management to implement a paperless system and ask our operatives to work on tablets. We linked our bespoke browser back office system, then CIOS, to a third-party application to allow us to do this. Since this time we have invested and developed our system to todays iteration, Reliable, Efficient, Professional Service (REPS).
Through our enviable utilisation of this third-party software, we propelled the company to be industry leading through sharing our work and ideas with others. As others developed similar solutions, we sought the next phase in software evolution to keep Road Traffic Solutions at the forefront of technology and innovation. We made the decision to invest, and create our own bespoke system. The aim of this would be to link our functions directly to the customer, improve our business processes and efficiencies, and thus make us more competitive in the market. We aimed to achieve all this, whilst also improving our customer journey and offering total transparency in everything we do.
With an investment of over £250,000 and two years of planning and development, our REPS system went live in 2016. We saw instant rewards in our efficiencies and achieved all we’d set out to. We own the IP for this software, meaning we are in control of our own data, supporting GDPR, and controlling its development for the betterment of RTS and customers alike.

Since bringing REPS into our business, our efficiencies have improved, meaning we can achieve more per head and focus on continuing to deliver best in class customer service.
Our internal and external compliance scores have reached scores of 99% or above, and allow us to maintain our high levels of safety, accreditation and award.
We’ve noted an environmental impact too. Passing information electronically instead of on paper have saved us around 40 boxes of paper a month. At 2.2kg a box that’s just over a tonne of paper, or 1.2 million sheets, saved in a year! Now add to that saving ink, time, disposal, equipment maintenance and servicing costs and we’re talking real value for money.
