Road Traffic Solutions commits to ‘earn and learn’ by joining The 5% Club
13 October 2020
Road Traffic Solutions, a leading national provider of Traffic Management and On-Site Services, has showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focused on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn, Group CEO of Balfour Beatty, in 2013, is a movement of more than 500 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries, from engineering through to the legal sector.
Road Traffic Solutions have an established history of commitment to people development and supporting ‘earn and learn’ opportunities. Over the past 16 years Road Traffic Solutions have trained more than 100 apprentices through the business, developing a range of skills and expertise into the traffic management industry as a result. As a result of the organisations commitment to these learners, many of them remain with Road Traffic Solutions, being offered permanent roles following successful completion of their apprenticeships. Since 2014 this also includes a quarter of the leadership team, who came to the organisation via apprenticeship schemes, and really represents the career journey Road Traffic Solutions has to offer for those looking to join them.
“Road Traffic Solutions are really proud to join The 5% Club. We absolutely share their mission and values having acted as champions of these since our inception nearly two decades ago. Our commitment now is to continue to invest in ‘earn and learn’, to continue to lead by example as a member of The 5% Club, and to continue to raise awareness of the benefits such opportunities can bring, not just to our business but to the industry as a whole” – Tom Pearson, Sales & Marketing Director at Road Traffic Solutions.
Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club said, “We’re delighted to welcome Road Traffic Solutions into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR professionals, sharing and learning from each other. All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”
To mark the joining of The 5% Club, Road Traffic Solutions have today released 4 new apprenticeship opportunities via their local partner, McArthur Dean, and accessible via the National Apprenticeship website.
